Art Exhibit Opening Reception

Elizabeth Coachman, MD, grew up near Chicago before studying advertising design at Philadelphia’s Moore College of Art and biology at Rutgers University.  She lived in Okinawa, Japan, for 2 years in the early 1970s before returning to Philadelphia to obtain an MD at Temple University Medical School.  After moving to Florida in 1976 for a pathology residency at the University of South Florida, Elizabeth directed Tarpon Springs’ hospital laboratory for many years.  In retirement, she creates intaglio prints, paints landscapes and has written the biographies of two of Florida’s first woman physicians.  She lives happily with Florida native Michael Coachman on their Hernando County cattle ranch where she maintains painting and printmaking studios.  The couple travels via RV, and Elizabeth begins many of her paintings while traveling.  Much of her print work involves visual puns.

Description of the artwork: Landscape oil paintings are interspersed with intaglio print work.  The latter is comprised of copper plate etchings, mezzotints and aquatints.
